Frequently Asked Questions
In our initial session(s), I will conduct an intake assessment to better understand your history and current concerns. We will discuss your goals for treatment and preferences for how to structure and approach sessions. Ultimately, you are in charge of determining what you want to get out of therapy. I may provide suggestions for what to focus on if you are unsure of what you want to work towards. I regularly ask for feedback about what is helpful or unhelpful so you can maximize the benefits of your experience. You may become aware of some unresolved feelings and discomfort can arise throughout therapy as you start to make changes and see your issues differently, which is a normal part of the process.
I work virtually with clients throughout New York state on a HIPAA compliant video platform, and I also offer in-person sessions in Manhattan. Please note that you must physically be in New York for all virtual sessions regardless of insurance or state of primary residency due to licensing regulations.
I currently accept most Aetna plans and I am considered an out-of-network provider for all other insurance plans. I am happy to help determine if you have out-of-network benefits that may allow you to receive reimbursement if I do not accept your insurance directly.
If you have tried traditional talk therapy and still felt stuck or like your work was unfinished, Accelerated Resolution Therapy may help. Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) engages both sides of your brain through rapid eye movements and allows you to reprocess memories differently. ART integrates bilateral stimulation and voluntary image replacement to reduce negative sensations around past traumatic events or memories. ART can also help you make changes in your daily routines by targeting problematic behaviors/habits, faulty patterns of thinking, phobias, and more.
I encourage you to schedule a consultation call to determine if I am the right therapist for you. During our call, I'll tell you more about myself and my approach, get an idea of your expectations for therapy, and answer any questions you have about getting started.
